About Us

Established as ‘Hally & Co’ in 1850 our family business has been manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing quality clothing in Auchterarder.

By 1850 our factory had 542 looms producing 80,000 yards of cloth a week. It was mostly shirting and pyjama cloth and mainly made of wool. The second Boer War, at the tail end of the 1800’s, proved particularly good for business as Hally & Co. secured a contract to manufacture Khaki cloth to the British Armed Forces. By this time Hally & Co. had offices in Auchterarder, Glasgow and London plus agents in many other countries. Approximately 70% of the product was exported to countries such as Australia, new Zealand, India and China.

In 1930 ‘The Gleneagles Knitwear Co. was established and we started manufacturing knitwear. We mostly used lambswool and Shetland but by the 1970’s had started using cashmere too. This proved very popular with the North American tourists visiting the area to play golf.

In 1993 we bought the shop in the high street known as ‘R Watson Hogg’. This had particular significance as it was actually our family that had built it originally in 1872 and this is where we trade from today.
